April 20th, 2013, 8:02 A.M., 7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Yaan Lushan County, Sichuan which is another devastating strong earthquake 5 years after Wenchuan earthquake, Sichuan Province. After the earthquake, the professor of our colledge at the first time rushed to the Lushan County earthquake disaster site, and arrived Lushan County City at 10:30. As a geological engineer, combined with the experience from y the 2008 5.12 Wenchuan earthquake, he realized that the earthquake-induced secondary geologic disaster could not be negligible beside that it could cause damage and collapse of the house and affect the people's life and property. Therefore, after meeting with Sichuan province Governor Wei Hong, Sichuan provincial Bureau of Land and Resources deputy director Xu Zhiwen, in Lushan, they immediately participated in the guidance of local earthquake relief work, even in the potential dangerous of aftershocks, landslides and other hazards. They went into the core area of the epicenter of Lushan County Longmen Township, Baosheng Township, Taiping Town to guide the emergency rescue.
Combined with the earthquake-induced collapse and landslide situation along the way, on the road from the Longmen Township to Baosheng Township, Prof. Hu introduced the provincial the types and characteristics of the geological disaster formation to the government leaders, i.e., the overall induced disaster species to collapse and fall stone but large and medium-sized landslides rarely occurs, the above-mentioned collapse of geological hazards mainly occurs along the national highway. The influence of highway traffic, such as Provincial Road and county and Township road, but the harm of the people's life and property is not serious, so it shows that the secondary geologic disaster after the Yaan Lushan earthquake is obviously different in the development scale, the type and the harmfulness than the Wenchuan earthquake. The main reason is that the earthquake magnitude was less than the Wenchuan earthquake and the duration was shorter. However, considering the seismic effects on the mountain and the aftershocks characteristics after earthquakes, after the earthquake for a period of time, "collapse but not to collapse, shake but not to drop" there are many, landslides, collapses and debris flow, possibility of a large number of hazards. Therefore, the potential risk is huge, should do well in emergency and transitional resettlement of, strengthen the geological disaster inspection work, prevent the secondary geological hazards caused by casualties, reduce the secondary disasters and carry out the emergency measures proposed work methods.
