From November 2nd to 4th, 2018, the 15th Annual Conference on theory and methods of Geographic Information Science was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi. This conference was hosted by the Working Committee on Theory and Method of China Association for Geographic Information Society and organized by Taiyuan University of Technology. The theme of the conference was “Innovation Driven, Smart Integration”, which was divided into three parts: invited report, special report and sub-meeting report. More than 150 units participated in the conference. More than 1,300 participants attended in the seminar to discuss on the theories and methods of geographic information science and the development directions of GIS technology and application in China.

Professor Qing Zhu, Professor Jun Zhu and 25 postgraduates and undergraduates participated in the conference. Professor Qing Zhu was invited to held the special seminar of “Indoor Positioning and Location Service”, and made an report of “Three-dimensional Fine Modeling of Tilting Photogrammetry”. In addition, he also participated in the selection of outstanding young thesis defense and held the special invited report of the conference. Professor Jun Zhu was invited to hold the special session of "Virtual Geographic Environment" and made a special report on "Dynamic Construction of VR Scene and Interactive Exploration Analysis". The students Gang Yu, Shenghui Tian, Ke Nan, Yi Zhou, Wei Lang and Ping She also made reports.

The next annual conference will be held by Guangzhou University in Guangzhou in 2020.
