August 25th to 27th, 2017, the Badong International Geological Disasters Symposium (BIGS2017) and the 7th Young Engineering Geology Conference was held in Badong County, Hubei Province. The conference was jointly sponsored by theChina University of Geosciences (Wuhan), the National Natural Science Foundation Committee and Hubei Province Badong County Government. More than 300 experts and scholars from China, Britain, the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Greece, Hungary, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sudan, Hong Kong, China and other 13 countries attended the conference.
The theme of this symposium is "Reservoir landslide prevention and control", and the conference focused on the geological disaster evolution process, early identification of geological hazards, geological hazard monitoring and early warning, geological hazard control technology, geological hazard field test, geological hazard control management and other six topics. Prof. Hu Xiewen, Associate Prof. Zhao Xiaoyan, Assistant Prof. Luo Gang, and graduate students Kamran, Fu Jiankang and Hu Kai attended the conferences.
Professor Hu has chaired the symposium, and Associate professor Zhao xiaoyan made an invited lecture on the "large-scale high-speed landslide-locking fracture-shaking test" at the seventh Symposium on Youth Engineering Geology, which involved the initiation mechanism of large-scale rock-mass landslide. This lecture aroused heated discussion by attendees. Assistant professor Luo Gang was invited to participate in the Rock landslide disaster Mechanism symposium. During the conference, the teachers and students also participated in the field comprehensive test of Badong (large reservoir landslide). The geological hazard control and the bank reconstruction project ofreservoir area was constructed by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
