On May 14, 2016,our faculty successfully held “High-speed Railway Surveying and Mapping, Geological and Environmental New Technology- Surveying and Mapping” sessionin room X9208. This session, supported by the State-Province Joint Engineering Laboratory in Spatial Information Technology for High-Speed Railway Safety (Southwest Jiaotong University), was chaired by Prof. Zhu Xu, the head of Department of Surveying and Geo-Informatics., attracting more than 200 teachers and students.
Prof. Xiaochun Ren, the vice general engineer of China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group Ltd., Prof. Bo Huang, the professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Chang Jiang Scholar Chair Professor of our faculty, and Dr. Hongguo Jia made three academic reports, respectively.
Prof. Ren gave a presentation titled “Applications of Real Geographic Environment in Railway Survey and Design”. He described the meaning of real geographic environment firstly, and then from two types of representations of real geographic environment, i.e., image-based and graph-based, he introduced the related applications of using these two techniques for railway survey and design.
Prof. Huang gave a presentation titled “Spatial and Temporal Data Fusion and Regional Economic Impact Analysis of High-speed Railway”. He introduced two models proposed by his research group, i.e., geographically and temporally weighted regression (GTWR) and geographically and temporally weighted autoregressive (GTWAR), and proved the effectiveness the robustness of the models based a large number of experiments.
Dr. Jia gave a presentation titled “InSAR Techniques and Their Applications in High-speed Railway”. She described the meaning of interferometric synthetic aperture radar firstly, and then gave an overall introduction to the research progress of InSAR research group, led by Prof. Guoxiang Liu, the dean of our faculty. She presented various applications of InSAR techniques for helping to ensure safety of high-speed railway.
